YMCA Victoria Allied Health Exercise Physiology Collaboration Project.

HTA is excited to collaborate with YMCA Victoria’s vision in helping people become happier, healthier and more connected to their communities.

This project commenced on the 1st February with 11 YMCA Victoria Sites commencing Exercise Physiology Services via Health Team Australia. HTA will collaborate with YMCA Victoria to roll out Services to 5 new sites every 6 months for the next 2 years.

YMCA Exercise Physiology is a team of Accredited Exercise Physiologists who are tertiary qualified allied health professionals. Exercise Physiologists specialise in safe and effective exercise prescription as the main treatment method in the prevention, treatment and management of chronic disease and injuries.

What do our Accredited Exercise Physiologists specialise in?

• Diabetes (Type I, II and Gestational)
• Cardiovascular Disease
• Musculoskeletal injuries
• Arthritis and Osteoporosis
• Obesity and weight management
• Anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions
• Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
• Obstructive Sleep Apnea
• Back pain
• Workplace injuries
• Stroke and neuromuscular conditions
• Falls Prevention
• Sport and Athlete specific programing

Our Exercise Physiologists have access to all areas within each YMCA centre including the use of health club and aquatic areas. They also are able to help tailor specialised training programs for athletes and those with specific health and fitness goals.

Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists are registered as providers with Medicare, Department of Veteran’s Affairs and WorkCover as well as a number of private health insurers.

 What can you expect?

We will conduct an initial consultation with you
 to determine your individual goals and desired outcomes of working with our team. This will provide us with the opportunity to learn about you and the impact specific exercise prescription can have on improving your lifestyle and health outcomes.

Your subsequent sessions may be in a group or individual environment based on your needs and our identified goals. This will be an opportunity for you to learn to self manage your condition and develop a positive change to your habits, behaviours and health status.

YMCA Victoria and Health Team Australia are committed to helping our communities. We have a variety of practices in place to ensure that all people can find help at the Y.

Our Guarantees to you:

• We are all Accredited Exercise Physiologists
• We have developed specialised programs and services to better accommodate your needs and access to Exercise Physiology services within the YMCA
• We will return your phone call and/or email with any questions, comments are concerns you may have within 48 hours.
• We will communicate directly with your referring General Practitioner and/or Allied Health Practitioner (i.e Physiotherapist) after your initial session as well as provide follow up support as requested.
• We are well trained and experienced in providing a high quality service which will not only include exercise prescription but also health coaching and education along the way!

Rebates Available

Exercise Physiology clients may be able to access rebates from the following referrals: • Medicare
• WorkSafe Victoria
• Transport Accident Commission (TAC)
Private Health Fund rebates are available for clients with eligible cover for Exercise Physiology services utilised.
Exercise Physiology assessment and consultations, including group programs offered, are available by appointment only.
